Date Night Makeup Looks

Date night. A phrase that thrills us and unleashes butterflies of both anticipation and anxiety. We all want to make it look like we haven’t tried that hard without putting no effort in whatsoever. Walking that fine line can be tough, especially when it comes to your makeup. While a little too much eyeshadow certainly won’t ruin your date, it can make you feel less confident in your appearance and cast a dark cloud over the whole evening. Here are some date night makeup looks that find a happy balance between dressed up and “I look this way every day!”

Bold Lips, Muted Eyes
Everyone focuses on making their eyes pop, but what if you let your lips do all the talking? Instead of putting dark shadow and globs of mascara on, add a light layer to your eyes and focus on making your lips the center of attention. A few swipes of mascara and a skin-tone eyeshadow are all you need up top. Then, for your lips, pick a bold color (either bright or dark) that complements your skin tone. Finish off with a little lip liner, and your date will hang onto your every word – or at least, they’ll look like they are.

Classic Smokey Eye
Yeah yeah, everyone goes for the smokey eye look, but you know why? It’s simple! And it’s perfect for a night out. There are tons of tutorials all over the Internet with their own variations on the classic look, but these are the basics:

1.  Medium-tone shadow over the whole lid
2. Liner along lash line
3. Dark-tone shadow blended over half the lid on top of the liner
4. Finish with mascara

Bare Minimum
If you’re a fan of the natural look, you don’t have to get complicated! Pick a mid tone eyeshadow that complements your eye color, sweep it lightly over your lid, then add a touch of eyeliner or a little mascara (or both!). A little bit of setting powder and some chapstick or nude lipstick, and you’re good to go!

Makeup can help you feel more confident and attractive, but there’s nothing like knowing deep down that you’re fantastic and anyone would be lucky to have you. Go get ready for that date, don’t let the anxious jitters get to you, and remember that when it comes down to it, your best feature is you.
